Julie A. Marsh, PhD, is a professor of education policy at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education and Sol Price School of Public Policy, and Faculty Director of Policy Analysis for California Education. Marsh specializes in research on K-12 policy and governance, blending perspectives in education, sociology, and political science.
Marsh is the director of qualitative research for the U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Science-funded National Center for Research on Education Access and Choice (REACH). She recently completed a four-year term as co-editor of the journal Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, and is author of the book Democratic dilemmas: Joint work, education politics, and community (SUNY Press), co-author of the book Challenging the one best system: The portfolio management system and urban school governance (Harvard Education Press), and co-editor of the book School districts and instructional renewal (Teachers College Record).
Prior to coming to USC in July 2010, she was at the RAND Corporation for eight years, where she last served as Senior Policy Researcher.
